Animal Behaviorists say cats wake humans up during the night because they worry our longer sessions of sleep could mean we are dead.
*A human sleeps during the middle of the night and is then woken by their cat*
Human: “Tabby? What’s the matter? Are you hungry?”
Cat: “Human! I feared you had fallen! You must not slumber so long for we must be ready for battle at a moment’s notice. The barbarian cats from across the street might make their move today. By the might of Sekhmet and Bast, we shall prevail!”
*Cat scampers out of the room shouting “DUA SEKHMET! DUA BAST!”*
